What is a Prayer Walk?
A prayer walk is us, together in community, walking through our communities and neighborhoods and praying. As we pray, we ask God to open our eyes and hearts to see the city from His perspective. It involves taking our prayers to the very places we desire to see God’s presence manifested and our prayers answered.
Why Prayer Walk?
Prayer is a major way we can take time together to notice God at work and participate with Him in the redemptive, life-giving work he is up to in the places we live, work and play. Through prayer walking we put our prayers into motion as we walk in our communities and neighborhoods. As we pray, we can begin to see a spiritual awakening around us prompted by God.
How to prepare?
There’s no special “to do list” to prepare. It’s more about the posture you come with. Please come with a posture of:
What to expect…
Plan for the process to take about 90 minutes. The breakdown of that time is as follows:
- Meet at Chorus Public House, 154 W. Main St., to gather together and prepare our hearts for prayer (25 min)
- Break into smaller groups to go to various parts of the city. (5 minutes)
- Spend time prayer walking (40 minutes)
- Return together to de-brief (20 minutes)
If you are unable to join us as a group on Wednesday, we invite you to still participate by prayer walking some time the week of June 30 – July 7.
