Why Community Groups?
Church is more than a place to gather for an hour on a Sunday; church is people. It’s people who are meant to not only gather together for worship & teaching, but to be in community with one another, sharing life and discovering the way of Jesus, together. Ezra Community Groups are the primary way we practice belonging in community as we discover Jesus and His way to really live.
Discovering Jesus and His Way to Really Live
As disciples (apprentices) of Jesus, we are continuously learning (through teaching, spiritual practices, community, and the Holy Spirit) about what Jesus called life to the fullest and how to live that life wherever we are. This means we are intentional to BE with Jesus, BELONG in community, as we BECOME who God made us to be, so that we can BRING life to the world around us.
We take time each week to meet together, pray together, and share life together. It is in this ordinary rhythm of life in community that we discover how to really live.
Bringing Life Wherever We Live
As we live our lives where we are, we bring who Jesus is and what it is to live life with him to our homes, our neighborhoods, our cities, our work & play spaces. We bring hope, work for justice, invite healing, and announce God’s renewing love. As we do this, we partner with Jesus to see the Kingdom of God break into the here and now, in Stoughton (& Edgerton & McFarland & Cottage Grove), as in heaven.
